Get to know Sophie:
How long have you worked with Beauty Works?
1 Year 6 months
What’s the best piece of advice for someone starting out in the hair extensions industry?
Complete as many courses as you can - take all hints and tips from each educator and attend each course like youve never been on any previous so you learn more. Fitting hair extensions well can be the singular thing that ensures you have loyal and returning customers. Hair extensions can be the whole appointment or an add on service - utilise your skills to suit.
What do you think makes Beauty Works so special?
Beauty Works make big moves! I think its so special to be a part of something so big, but feel like you can make a difference. Its the same with customers, we don't just provide a course, we give proper skills and education, and follow it up with events, support and guidance, from just starting out to being platinum level, absolutely smashing it on socials. Everyone's journey matters to the brand and we cater to all!
What hair concerns can you solve by using hair extensions?
Adding colour, adding length, thickness, changing style, whether for one night or more permanent - all give confidence!
What would you say is your career highlight?
Becoming In House Educator for Beauty Works - I feel this is such a milestone not only for me personally, but for the brand expanding education. There is so much opportunity, so I'm grabbing it with both hands.
What is your favourite hair extension method?
I love our Gold Flat Track wefts - I have really fine hair so never really thought I would be the right candidate for a weft, but I love mine! Super comfy, super discreet. I love fitting them as they're so comfortable and not heavy, while being really flat to the head. They are also really versatile with them being less grams, mix and matching the colours to create a bespoke blend makes such a difference in creating natural looks.
What is your favourite Beauty Works hair extension shade?
I always wear Amalfi Blonde and Molly Mae, but my actual favourite shade out of them all would be Cookies and Cream. I think you can create such natural looking mix brunette blends with this shade but also blends so nice with Blonde shades to create dimension.
What do you think is the most underrated Beauty Works extension shade?
Taupe - not many people have this shade as a base shade, but it blends so well with darker or lighter tones to create new blends and dimension.
What’s your favourite moment during a client’s hair extension journey?
Its usually the same for most - when they haven't had hair extensions before or are having a change (maybe a little nervous), once the application is done and they look in the mirror, mess with their hair and feel the thickness/ texture, you can see the confidence in them come out and they're so happy. Its always a lovely moment!
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since becoming an educator with Beauty Works?
Never stop learning - every educator/ stylist/ hair professional will have slightly different tips and tricks and I am always looking to learning new. I don't think you can ever stop developing your own skills, everyone's experiences and journeys are different, so anything I can learn, I'm there!
